Context and needs

Basic-Fit, which is growing rapidly in the gym sector, is continuing to expand by opening new facilities across Europe. With 1,200 clubs in operation, including 700 in France, the brand continues to open clubs at a steady pace, often in buildings and premises renovated in partnership with local contractors. This rapid development, combined with the need for renovation, requires the most efficient management of operations. It is in this context that Basic-Fit has chosen to implement a BIM approach, aimed at optimizing the planning, coordination and maintenance of its large-scale projects.

The challenges

After structuring the company's BIM strategy, Enrico CASTORELLO, BIM manager at Basic-Fit, wanted to define a quick method for modeling gyms via a “scan to BIM” process. Having the ability to model internally, Basic-Fit wanted to find a trusted partner for the 3D digitization of sites, capable of offering a fast and widespread service in one of their main countries: France.

As part of our partnership with Basic-Fit, we provide the brand with complete point clouds, which its modeling department uses to produce 3D models. During 3D survey interventions, the interior of the building is entirely scanned, as well as the exterior surroundings and facades. This approach ensures that all architectural, structural and equipment elements are accurately represented in the point cloud, thus providing a complete and accurate database for Basic-Fit teams.

Thanks to this precision, the planning of renovations and layouts becomes more reliable, allowing optimal project management and smooth integration into the company's BIM approach.

The results achieved

This project with Basic-Fit has achieved several key results: a fast and reliable digitization of sites carried out using NavVis mobile scanners, offering a speed of 1,500 m²/h and a delivery time of three days for point clouds, which made it possible to cover up to 180,000 m² in 2023.

Deliverables include compliant point clouds, 3D digital models, and online virtual tours, used by Basic-Fit and its contractors for remote measurements and consultations, thus ensuring efficient and smooth project management.
